Kidz Pointe Apartment Ministries

Kidz Pointe is a ministry for those kids who live in apartments in the Park Central community. This VBS-style ministry meets on Monday or Tuesday afternoons and follows RISD’s calendar. There are currently 2 Kidz Pointe ministries in 2 different apartment complexes (La Mirada and The Thread). La Mirada meets from 4-6pm on Tuesdays while The Thread meets on Mondays from 4-6pm. Volunteers help with snack and play games with the kids who attend, followed by Bible study and crafts.

  • Teachers – lead the Bible lesson for the day.

  • Snack/Game/Music volunteers

  • Cleaners - Cleaning volunteers may serve on a different day at a different time as their schedule allows and help clean up following the meetings

  • Pray - Pray for the kids and their families

  • Invest - Develop relationships with the kids and their parents with the hope of inviting them to The Heights

Kids Hope Mentors

Kids Hope USA develops one-on-one relationships through the creation of church-school partnerships that pairs church members with at-risk kids in supportive, mentoring relationships. Mentors spend time reading, talking, playing, and listening to a child at school. By helping the child feel loved and valued, they help that child to learn, grow, and succeed. Kids Hope Mentors are paired with at-risk students from Bukhair Elementary to develop a supportive, mentoring relationship. A volunteer mentors role includes:

  • Invest - Spend 1 hour a week with your student at Bukhair Elementary during the school hours and commit to mentoring the student for at least 1 year

  • Connect - Connect with the student’s teacher to know about his/her specific needs

  • Pray - Pray for the student and his/her family

Bukhair Elementary Staff Care

It is our hope to increase our presence on campus as we support and care for the faculty and staff. Join us as we continue to build a relationship on this campus to further the gospel.

Bukhair Elementary Special Events

Bukhair Elementary has a variety of events throughout the year that provide opportunities to better connect the students and their families to the Bukhair community and continued learning.

Bukhair ADOPT a Teacher

By “adopting” a teacher at Bukhair, you will have the chance to bless and encourage that teacher throughout the year. You can make a difference in the students’ lives by investing in their teachers as well! Volunteers will be asked to:

  • Invest - Bless their assigned teacher at least once a month. This may include bringing snacks, writing them an encouraging note, helping in the classroom, etc.

  • Pray - Commit to pray for them and their families throughout the year

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

ESL classes are taught at our Creekside Campus for the Park Central Community. They are held Tuesday - Friday from 9am-1pm. Teacher and Childcare Workers are needed. Training will be provided.
