In working with international students from UTD, I am sometimes asked, “Why are you doing this?” I usually tell them about some religious leaders that asked Jesus, “What is the greatest commandment?” He answered with two sentences which basically boiled down to “love God and love your neighbor.” I then talk about how much smaller the world is becoming and how we can actually love our neighbors who live half way around the world in two ways; by welcoming & helping them when they come here, and by going to their country to see what God is up to there. Clearly, God is at work all around us and across the world. Missions simply means joining God wherever He is working.
